Elephant – Nilgiri, Balasore, Odisha

What has transpired? Is there a follow-up video available? Did the rescuers abandon the effort, leaving the elephant in distress? The lack of a resolution in the video is disappointing; had I been aware that it was incomplete, I would not have watched it. The current approach involves creating a slope on one side of the pit to enable the elephant to climb using its front legs and a log, as I can comprehend from the commentary. It is possible that the villagers are attempting this method as a preliminary step before the arrival of a bulldozer.

I commend the efforts of all those involved, but the slope should be designed to facilitate the elephant’s ascent more effectively. Ideally, the ramp should begin at a distance of at least 10 feet from the edge of the pit.

Has the elephant been successfully rescued? The ongoing attempts to create a slope on one side of the pit, utilizing a log, suggest that the villagers are working on a solution before heavy machinery arrives. I kindly request that you provide a video showing the actual rescue operation. The elephant’s eyes convey a sense of hopelessness, and I would greatly appreciate receiving the complete footage of the rescue.

It is concerning to see over twenty individuals present, yet no one has proposed the idea of digging a one-meter channel leading towards the pit to create a gradual ramp. This situation represents a suboptimal rescue effort, but I am grateful for the dedication of those who are striving to save the young elephant.
