We found him collapsed on a pile of garbage…

You wouldn’t be wrong to think Beam was dying. He lay flat in a heap of garbage, a huge maggot wound bearing into his neck. When our rescuers came, he didn’t flinch. He had no energy or will to escape. He extended his head to avoid pain, and quietly allowed us to lift him into the ambulance. He must have been so weary. He’d given up hope. Weakness, dehydration, starvation, pain…it was all about to change for Beam, but he didn’t seem able to realize it for the first couple of days. You can see in his eyes, his hopelessness. BUT by week 2, we’re seeing not only the wound healing, but his eyes are starting to soften. And within a few more weeks, meet Beam, a beaming boy, whose loving, cheerful nature radiates joy.
